There are 13 districts in Uttarakhand which are grouped into two divisions, Kumaon and Garhwal. 4 more districts namely Didihat, Ranikhet, Kotdwar and Yamunotri were declared by the then CM of Uttarakhand, Ramesh Pokhariyal on 15 Aug 2011. However, these districts have NOT been created yet.

The Kumaon division includes Six districts.

Pithoragarh
Udham Singh Nagar

The Garhwal division includes Seven districts.
Dehradun
Haridwar
Tehri Garhwal
Uttarkashi
Chamoli
Pauri Garhwal (commonly known as Garhwal)
Rudraprayag

Didihat to be carved out from Pithoragarh
Ranikhet to be carved out from Almora district
Kotdwar to be carved out from Pauri district
Yamunotri to be carved out from Uttarkashi
